Mattocks, Powell Called Up For International Play

CINCINNATI – Darren Mattocks and Alvas Powell have been called up to Jamaica for matches during the upcoming FIFA window that starts next Monday. The two players have made a combined 80 appearances for the Reggae Boyz in their professional careers.


Both players will be unavailable for selection in FC Cincinnati’s match at New England on March 24.


FC Cincinnati will now have five players in camps with their respective national teams during the upcoming window. Allan Cruz and Kendall Waston have been named to the roster for Costa Rica’s two friendlies and Frankie Amaya will join the U.S. Men’s National Team Under-20s for a camp in Spain.


Mattocks and Powell are slated to play in a Concacaf Nations League match at El Salvador on March 23 as well as an international friendly against Costa Rica on March 26. Mattocks most recently played for Jamaica in a Concacaf Nations League qualifier against Suriname on Nov. 18, 2018. Powell last played for Jamaica in an international friendly at Canada on Sept. 3, 2017.


FC Cincinnati will make their home debut as an MLS team at Nippert Stadium on Sunday, March 17, when the team hosts MLS Cup finalists Portland Timbers at 5 p.m. The match will be televised nationally live on FS1, streamed on FOX Sports GO and carried on the radio on WDJO.
