FC Cincinnati have acquired midfielder Florian Valot (pronounced Val-OH) from New York Red Bulls in exchange for $50,000 in 2022 General Allocation Money (GAM), the club announced today. FCC could relinquish another $50,000 in 2022 GAM if certain performance-based metrics are met. Valot has been added to FC Cincinnati’s roster and is available for selection for the remainder of the 2021 MLS regular season.
Valot grew up in the Paris Saint-Germain Academy and has spent the previous six years in the New York Red Bulls organization.
“We are pleased to acquire a player of Florian’s quality,” General Manager Gerard Nijkamp said. “He is a versatile player with MLS experience and talent who can play a multitude of positions for us, and he will bring a dynamic presence to the midfield.”
Valot has made 50 appearances for New York Red Bulls in his four seasons, scoring five goals and adding eight assists across MLS, MLS is Back, MLS Cup Playoffs, and CONCACAF Champions League competitions. He has appeared in three matches so far this season for Red Bulls. Valot made his MLS debut in 2018, scoring three times and adding four assists in 14 appearances for the Supporter’s Shield-winning side.
The French international began his professional career with New York Red Bulls II in USL Championship, making 53 appearances in three seasons with the squad. He notched 13 goals and 13 assists for Red Bulls II during his time, and he was a critical player in the 2016 squad which won the USL Championship Final.
FC Cincinnati will return to the pitch Saturday when they play host to Orlando City SC at TQL Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET, and the game will be televised on WSTR 64, carried on the radio on ESPN1350, streamed regionally on fccincinnati.com/stream, and out of market on ESPN+.
