Loan Roundup: Sept. 9

Lasso

An FC Cincinnati player winning a 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifier was the highlight for Orange and Blue players on loan in the USL Championship this past week.

Here’s a rundown of players on loan:

Nazmi Albadawi

Position: Midfielder

Club: North Carolina FC, but with the Palestine National Team

Result: Palestine won, 2-0, against Uzbekistan

North Carolina FC drew Bethlehem Steel 3-3 this past weekend without Albadawi, who’s in Asia competing for a spot in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

On Friday, Albadawi started in Palestine’s 2-0 win over Uzbekistan to open play in Group D, which is the second round of World Cup qualifying. The midfielder played the full match.

Palestine will play in Singapore on Tuesday before Albadawi returns to the U.S. and the USL Championship.

Logan Gdula

Position: Defender

Club: Hartford Athletic

Result: 5-1 win against Loudoun United

Gdula started and played 82 minutes in the massive win over Loudoun United. Playing as an outside back, he completed 34 passes with an 82.4% passing accuracy and won eight duels. In addition, he also created three chances and won two tackles and recorded an interception.

Since he joined Hartford Athletic on loan, Gdula has played across the Connecticut club’s backline as both a fullback and a center back. When FC Cincinnati drafted him, their plans were to use him as an outside back who can get forward.

Forrest Lasso

Position: Defender

Club: Nashville SC

Result: 1-0 loss at Saint Louis FC

Lasso started and played the full match in the loss to Saint Louis FC. The center back made 58 passes with a 74.1% passing accuracy and won seven duels. He also produced a tackle and three clearances.

With the loss, Nashville SC dropped to third in the Eastern Conference standings, while Tampa Bay Rowdies climbed into second.

Hassan Ndam

Club: Charlotte Independence

Result: 3-1 loss against Tampa Bay Rowdies

Speaking of the Rowdies, their win against Charlotte Independence moved them to second. Center back Hassan Ndam didn’t play and was in Cincinnati this past week. He is still considered on loan with Charlotte.

Ben Lundt

Position: Goalkeeper

Club: Louisville City FC

Result: 0-0 draw at Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC

Lundt didn’t travel to Pittsburgh and instead spent Saturday at the FC Cincinnati match at Nippert Stadium.
