Amaya on playing his childhood club

Amaya

Frankie Amaya grew up an LA Galaxy fan and went to games when he could.

“I had a dream that one day I was going to play at the StubHub (Center),” Amaya said about playing at LA’s home stadium, which is now named Dignity Health Sports Park.

“But it was the other way around and I played at Nippert.”

Amaya started and was arguably the best player on the field Saturday night in FC Cincinnati’s 2-0 loss to the Galaxy on Saturday night.

Amaya 72 touches and 53 passes with an 88.7% passing accuracy. He also completed a tackle and won two fouls in front of a sold-out crowd of 32,250.

“It was perfect,” he said of playing his childhood team. “It felt like home.”

But it’s his new home for his new team ... against his favorite childhood team.
