FC Cincinnati defender Matt Miazga has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 7, the league announced Monday. The honor is Miazga’s second recognition of the season among the league’s weekly best.

Miazga’s led all players Saturday night against Philadelphia Union with 108 touches of the ball. He also led the game with 96 total passes, 92 of which were accurate for an impressive 95.8% passing accuracy.

Miazga, one of just 33 non-goalkeepers across Major League Soccer to have played the maximum-possible 630 minutes this season, has led a Cincinnati backline which has five clean sheets this season, tied with Nashville SC for the most in the league.

The Orange and Blue have not conceded a goal in 314 minutes, the longest streak in club history and the fourth-longest run this season across MLS.

FC Cincinnati have had a defender represented on the MLS Team of the Matchday for three straight weeks, and at least one player from FCC has been on the league’s weekly recognition in all but one Team of the Matchday this season.

Miazga’s naming to the MLS Team of the Matchday is the ninth recognitions of an FC Cincinnati player on the weekly team this season, his second in 2023 (Matchday 5 – Bench). It is his first nod among the league’s Starting XI since last season in Week 26. A full list of 2023 FC Cincinnati weekly honors:
