Orange and Blue’s defender claims spot on league’s weekly team for third time in 2018

CINCINNATI – FC Cincinnati defender Forrest Lasso has been voted to the United Soccer League’s Team of the Week for Week 30 following his performance in FC Cincinnati’s scoreless draw at Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC on Saturday, Oct. 6.

This is Lasso’s third nod on the USL Team of the Week this season.

The defender played a key part as FC Cincinnati (23-3-7, 76 pts.) recorded a clean sheet against Pittsburgh on the road at Highmark Stadium. Lasso won 13-of-16 duels and recorded 12 clearances as the Orange and Blue recorded their 14th shutout in 2018.

On the season, Lasso’s 221 clearances and 33 blocks lead the squad, while he’s also added 45 interceptions. Standing 6-foot-5, he has also won 162-of-198 aerial duels this year.

Cincinnati is in the midst of a 22-game unbeaten run (17-0-5), which has tied the USL record for the longest single-season unbeaten streak, originally set by the Richmond Kickers in 2012.

FC Cincinnati (23-3-7, 76 pts.) will wrap up the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 13, when the team travels to Nashville to face Nashville SC at 8:30 p.m. ET (7:30 p.m. CT). The match will be televised live on WSTR 64 and streamed live on ESPN+.

FCC will enter the 2018 USL Cup Playoffs as the tournament’s number one overall seed as the regular-season champion. The Orange and Blue will begin play when they host the Eastern Conference’s number eight seed at Nippert Stadium at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20. Tickets are on sale now.
