CINCINNATI – FC Cincinnati have signed midfielder Jonas Fjeldberg to a one-year contract with three additional option years. The Orange and Blue selected the midfielder with the No. 54 overall selection in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft.
“Jonas has earned a contract with FC Cincinnati after training with the team for various weeks now,” FC Cincinnati General Manager Gerard Nijkamp said. “He has adapted well to the professional setting and we are excited to see his potential with the club.”
Fjeldberg, 22, played four seasons at the University of Dayton (2017-21) where he made 61 appearances, including 55 starts, scoring 22 goals and adding 21 assists. Following the 2021 MLS SuperDraft, the midfielder from Jessheim, Norway was allowed to return to Dayton to complete his senior season. Fjeldberg led the Flyers in goals scored during his sophomore, junior and senior campaign. The midfielder was named Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year and to the Atlantic 10 First Team following his junior and senior seasons.
FC Cincinnati will return to action this weekend when the club heads to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. to play the Montreal Impact at DRV PNK Stadium on Saturday, May 22. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET, and the game will be televised on WSTR 64, carried on the radio on ESPN1530, streamed regionally on fccincinnati.com/stream, out of market on ESPN+, while an audio stream will be available via the iHeartRadio app.
