FC Cincinnati 2 have loaned forward Cheikhou Niang to Detroit City FC, the club announced today. Niang will join the USL Championship side through November before returning to Cincinnati ahead of the 2027 MLS NEXT Pro Sprint Season.
Niang, 20, was signed by FCC 2 on April 9 and enjoyed a productive first season in MLS NEXT Pro. Niang scored in his league debut on April 13, helping the Orange and Blue earn their first win of the year in a 1-0 result against New York City FC II.
The Senegalese forward made 17 appearances for the Orange and Blue this season, playing 978 minutes and scoring six goals. Niang’s six goals trails only Stefan Chirila for a team lead in the category.
The Orange and Blue return to action on Sunday, September 13 against Red Bull New York II at MSU Soccer Park in Montclair, New Jersey. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET with the match airing live on OneFootball platforms and on MLSNEXTPro.com.
