CINCINNATI – Frankie Amaya is one of 22 players to be called up by U.S. Men’s National Team head coach Gregg Berhalter to represent the USMNT. This is the first time the midfielder has been called in for a senior national team camp. The USMNT training camp in South Florida will take place ahead of the match against El Salvador at Inter Miami CF Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. on Dec. 9.

Amaya is the first player to earn a call to the USMNT since Greg Garza was named to the 2019 January Camp roster.

Amaya, 20, made a club-high 21 appearances, all starts, and scored his first professional goal for the Orange and Blue this season. Through two seasons, the No. 1 overall selection in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft has made 40 career appearances and has logged just shy of 3,000 career minutes in MLS regular-season matches.

The Santa Ana, Calif., native made his debut for the U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team in an international friendly against France on March 21, 2018. Furthermore, he was named to the U-20 MNT roster for the 2018 CONCACAF U-20 Championship. In that competition, Amaya made seven appearances, including five starts, as the United States went on to defeat Mexico, 2-0, in the final.
