2016 Supporter Award Winners Announced

FCC_-_Supporter_Awards_large

Last week, FC Cincinnati unveiled the club's own 2016 award winners as voted on by our players. At the same time, we announced that our amazing supporters would have a chance to vote for their own end of year winners.

Today, we reveal the results.

In total, 541 FC Cincinnati fans took the time to cast their votes for the same five awards as were voted on by the team: Vorys' Law Most Valuable Player, Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year, Most Improved Player and Cincinnatus Award.

But while the players voted in five different players for each of the five awards, the fans only voted in three. Which means at least one FCC player took home multiple awards. Who were they? Read on...

VORYS' LAW MOST VALUABLE PLAYER

While there were quite a few players that received votes from the fans for the MVP,  one was the clear winner. With just shy of 50% of the vote, centerback Harrison Delbridge takes home the prize to the cries of Aussie, Aussie, Aussie! Oy! Oy! Oy!

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

It's perhaps unsurprising that the man who the players tabbed as the team's offensive player of the year was also the one who lead the league in scoring. The fans echoed their sentiments, nominating Sean "Ugo" Okoli as their own Offensive MVP.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

He was voted the overall MVP, and as you might expect, also picked up the Defensive one, too, giving Harrison Delbridge his second 2016 fan award.

MOST IMPROVED PLAYER

A defender picked up the most improved player award, and the fans decided to do the same -- though their selection wasn't the same. Their selection? Outside back Tyler Polak earned the award for what they felt were improved showings over the course of his 30 appearances in 2016.

CINCINNATUS AWARD

Awarded to the player who demonstrates the characteristics for which the Roman leader Cincinnatus was lauded: outstanding leadership, service to the great good, civic virtue, lack of personal ambition, and modesty. So who did the fans felt met those high standards? None other than already voted MVP and defensive MVP, Harrison Delbridge.
