Team arrives in Orlando for tourney

“I’m ready to sweat here.”

Hours after arriving in Orlando for the MLS is Back Tournament, Kendall Waston said he’s ready to start practicing for next month’s competition once everyone learns their test results.

On Monday morning, Waston and FC Cincinnati flew to Florida and arrived at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. After a chartered flight – which included everyone wearing masks – coaches, players and team staff arrived at their hotel for COVID-19 tests. If test results are negative, then those individuals will be able to join the Orange and Blue on the training pitch as the they prepare for the club’s first match: July 11 against Columbus Crew SC in the #HellIsReal Derby.

“Hopefully we can have the test results back quick so we can go out on the pitch and get used to the heat and the humidity,” head coach Jaap Stam said. “We’ve said it before, there’s a lot of work to be done. It’s not easy in these conditions.

“We’re looking forward to training tomorrow.”

Tomorrow’s weather in Orlando: 98 degrees.
