Djiby scores four in 2017 home opener

In his Nippert Stadium debut, Djiby Fall produced the best individual performance in club history, scoring four times in the 2017 home opener against Saint Louis FC.

To that point, FCC had not won match by more than two goals, and the 4-0 win was the biggest result in team history.

The match was the dawn of Senegalese forward’s cult-like status. After each goal, he blew kisses to the crowd and said Nippert Stadium’s atmosphere was one of the best he’d ever played in.

Djiby finished with 16 goals across all competitions that season, which remains tied with Sean Okoli and Emmanuel Ledesma for the most in a season in club history.

The match served as a springboard for Djiby, who eventually scored three game-winning goals for the club during its magical run in the 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

Here’s the lineup that former head coach Alan Koch, who was coaching his first FCC home match, deployed in the home opener: Mitch Hildebrandt, Matt Bahner, Austin Berry, Harrison Delbridge, Tyler Polak, Aodhan Quinn, Kadeem Dacres, Kenney Walker, Corben Bone, Victor Mansaray and Djiby Fall. The three substitutes were Jimmy McLaughlin, Andy Craven and Pat McMahon.
