Academy split series with Sockers FC

Academy

After three games in four days at the Generation adidas qualifiers in their last outing, the FC Cincinnati Academy traveled to Barrington, Ill., to face Sockers FC in a USSF Development Academy regular-season game. The Orange and Blue combined for a 1-1-0 record last weekend. The Under-17’s lost, 3-1, while the Under-15’s came out on top with a 2-1 victory.

Under-17’s

The Orange and Blue were forced to make an early substitution after goalkeeper Beckham Sunderland (Cincinnati, Ohio) clashed with an opponent forcing Garrett Borgman (Crestwood, Ky.) to enter the match. Sockers FC opened the scoresheet in the 22nd minute when they capitalized off a counter-attack and headed in a driven cross. Sockers FC doubled their lead in the 62nd minute, and then the Orange and Blue had a defensive mix up in the 81st minute, leading to the Sockers’ third goal. In the 84th minute, Daniel Samways (Loveland, Ohio) scored directly off a free kick to score FCC’s lone goal.
