Bertone, Tyton nominated for MLS Goal and Save of the Year

CINCINNATI – FC Cincinnati midfielder Leonardo Bertone and goalkeeper Przemysław Tytoń have been nominated for MLSsoccer.com’s AT&T 2019 Goal of the Year and MLS Save of the Year presented by Allstate, respectively.

Bertone’s sensational goal from FC Cincinnati’s inaugural MLS match at Seattle on March 2 is one of 16 choices for the league’s best goal of the 2019 season. Following 12 minutes of scoreless play at CenturyLink Field, Bertone opened the scoring for the Orange and Blue with a volleyed, right-footed shot atop the 18-yard box to stun the home crowd and give the visitors their first-ever MLS lead.

Tytoń’s 99th-minute save on Gyasi Zardes’ headed effort from point-blank range in the first-ever MLS edition of the #HellisReal Derby on Aug. 10 is one of 16 nominations for the league’s best save of the 2019 season. The stop – one of Tytoń’s four saves in the match – thwarted a Crew SC side that was pushing for a game-winning goal and secured an away point for FCC at MAPFRE Stadium. Following the match, Tytoń was named to MLSsoccer.com’s Team of the Week presented by Audi for Week 23.
