Lineup Notes: Toronto

McCabe

The Orange and Blue become the first team in MLS this season to start three 2019 SuperDraft picks in the same game on Saturday night when they host Toronto FC at Nippert Stadium.


No. 1 pick Frankie Amaya, No. 29 pick Tommy McCabe and No. 49 pick Rashawn Dally will all start for FC Cincinnati in the club’s first of four home matches this month.

About the starters

Amaya returns to the starting XI for the first time since July 21 against the New England Revolution. He’s missed the last six matches nursing a groin injury which he picked up the day team departed for Columbus. Dally makes his first start under Jans and first one since the last time these teams met on July 28 at BMO Field. McCabe will make his first MLS start.


Joe Gyau will also make his first MLS start after playing in Germany previously. Gyau has two prior substitute appearances for Cincy.


Nick Hagglund, who will wear the captain’s armband for the first time this season, starts his first match since July 21 against New England. Hagglund spent his last five seasons in Toronto.


Caleb Stanko, Andrew Gutman and Mathieu Deplagne last started in the #HellisReal Derby loss to Columbus Crew SC at Nippert Stadium.


Overall, Jans made eight changes to the starting XI.


About the bench

Corben Bone is available for the first time since July 18 against D.C. United. Darren Mattocks is in the 18 for the first time since the home loss to Columbus.


About the absentees

Kendall Waston, Allan Cruz, Derrick Etienne Jr. and Alvas Powell are away on international duty. Kekuta Manneh is suspended because of his red card against FC Dallas. Victor Ulloa (groin), Maikel van der Werff (hamstring), Spencer Richey (back), Fanendo Adi (calf) and Jimmy McLaughlin (knee) are all out.
