Loan Roundup: USL Championship Week 7

USL

Three of FC Cincinnati’s 2019 MLS SuperDraft picks featured for their current USL clubs this past weekend, including No. 1 overall selection Frankie Amaya.

Here’s a rundown of how they fared:

Frankie Amaya

Position: Midfielder

Club: Orange County SC

Result: 1-0 loss at OKC Energy FC

Amaya made his USL Championship debut in Orange County’s loss on Saturday night. He started on the bench and was a 67th-minute substitute.

In his 23 minutes, Amaya had a 92.3% passing accuracy, which was an impressive 91.7% in OKC territory. Additionally, he had two chances created – both in stoppage time. In the 93rd minute, Amaya had a cross to Vinicius, who’s effort was saved in the top corner. Two minutes later, the 18-year-old midfielder had a shot blocked.

Amaya is on loan at OCSC in the buildup to the FIFA Under-20 World Cup next month in Poland, in hopes to secure him enough regular playing time to get the call-in for the U20 squad by U.S. Head Coach Tab Ramos.

Ben Lundt

Position: Goalkeeper

Club: Louisville City FC

Result: 1-0 win against Ottawa Fury FC

Lundt earned his second clean sheet this season in Louisville City’s home win over the Ottawa Fury. The German goalkeeper finished the match with two saves and a punched clearance.

It’s also worth pointing out that Lundt had a 79.2% passing accuracy, which was 53.8% in the opponent’s half. Those percentages show he can play well with his feet and pick out teammates on long balls.

Tommy McCabe

Position: Midfielder

Club: North Carolina FC

Result: 3-0 win against Charlotte Independence

McCabe and NCFC beat their in-state rivals Charlotte Independence this past weekend with an impressive display. As for McCabe, he started and produced an 87.1% passing accuracy – 79.4% in Charlotte’s half of the field.

He also made two tackles. The midfielder has started every game for the Carolina club since his loan move.

Rashawn Dally

Position: Forward

Club: Memphis 901 FC

Result: bye week

Memphis 901 had a bye week and didn’t play. To this point, the Jamaican forward has played in every match for the USL Championship expansion franchise.

Logan Gdula

Position: Defender

Club: Phoenix Rising FC

Result: 4-0 win against Tacoma Defiance

Gdula didn’t make the 18 in the Rising’s big win. The club also played on Wednesday, and he wasn’t part of that match – a 0-0 draw – either. The fullback had an injury setback to start the season that he’s working back from.

Canadian Premier League update:

Emery Welshman

Position: Forward

Club: Forge FC

Result: The club’s first match is April 27 against York9 FC.
