Lineup Notes: Home Opener Against Portland

Lineup

FC Cincinnati’s lineup against Portland Timbers is here. This is the starting XI:

The club will use a 4-4-2 formation for the second straight week. Cincinnati also used a 4-4-2 during the 1-1 draw at Atlanta United FC last Sunday night.

No changes to the lineup

FC Cincinnati didn’t change its starting lineup from Atlanta. This is the first time Head Coach Alan Koch hasn’t altered the starters.

There are two changes to the bench, however. Emmanuel Ledesma and Justin Hoyte replace Eric Alexander and Corben Bone.

Richey starts in goal

Spencer Richey will start as goalkeeper for a second straight game. Przemeysław Tytoń started the season opener in Seattle but is out with hamstring tendonitis. He trained individually this week.

Rookie Jimmy Hague is FCC’s backup keeper once again.

Adi, Powell start against their former club

Fanendo Adi joined FC Cincinnati last July as the club’s first designated player. His first MLS match at Nippert Stadium is against his former club.

Both Adi and Alvas Powell played for the Timbers at the start of 2018. Neither has played against their former club during their professional career.

Hagglund starts in Nippert debut

Cincinnati native Nick Hagglund starts in his first game at Nippert Stadium. Hagglund went to Lakota West High School and played at Xavier University. He’s started the two previous matches.

Four players from USL roster available Sunday

Adi and Richey are the first players from the 2018 USL lineup to start an MLS match at Nippert Stadium. Justin Hoyte and Emmanuel Ledesma could feature as well, though. Both players are on the bench and haven’t played for the Orange and Blue this season.
