Star64 to re-air 2018 USL Cup Playoff match against Nashville on Saturday

FC Cincinnati’s first-ever postseason advancement returns to the airwaves this weekend as WSTR Star64 will re-air the 2018 USL Cup Playoffs first-round match against Nashville SC, when the Orange and Blue bested the visitors in penalties, 6-5.


The game will be televised by Star64 at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, and will also be re-simulcast on fccincinnati.com within the WSTR Star64 viewing area.


The match ended scoreless after 90 minutes, forcing the two sides to play 30 additional minutes. Corben Bone scored in the 95th minute to give the Orange and Blue the lead, however, Nashville’s Bradley Bourgeois brought the visitors level in the 115th minute. After the two sides remained tied through 120 minutes, FC Cincinnati defeated Nashville SC in penalties, 6-5. Kenney Walker scored the game-winning penalty kick after Nashville’s Justin Davis sent his shot over the crossbar.


The Orange and Blue finished the regular season with 77 points, clinching the 2018 USL Regular-Season Championship. During the season, FCC went on a 23-game unbeaten streak, setting a USL record.


Once again, fans will be able to watch the match accompanied by “The Buffalo Wings & Rings Second Screen Experience” that will be streamed live starting at 2:00 p.m. on the club’s Facebook page. The Voice of FCC, Tom Gelehrter, will be joined by Kevin McCloskey, Forrest Lasso, Emmanuel Ledesma and Richie Ryan to recount experiences and memories of the rebroadcast match, as well as other behind-the-scenes stories.

With a 2 p.m. re-air on WSTR 64, fans are encouraged to support FC Cincinnati food and beverage partners after the game for dinner and drinks – just like they would after an afternoon match at Nippert Stadium.
