Qatar Quest: Bracket Challenge update through Group Stage

The 2022 FIFA World Cup Group Stage is complete, and very few could have predicted the upsets and surprises that this year’s tournament has provided. No country won all three of their Group Stage matches.

More than 200 participants signed up to compete in FC Cincinnati’s league for the MLS Qatar Quest: Bracket Challenge. Through the Group Stage, RichardG184 leads all FCC fans with 1,310 points.

The overall leader throughout the Bracket Challenge is JasonS552 with 1,470 points.

Points were determined based on how participants predicted teams to advance from the group stage. Fans earned 65 points for each correct group winner selection and various other point totals as listed below:

  • Correct group winner pick = 65 pts
  • Correct group second place pick = 40 pts
  • Correct group third place pick = 25 pts
  • Correct group fourth place pick = 25 pts
  • Correct pick of team to qualify for knockout stage (regardless of correct order) = 35 points

But now the real points are up for grabs! For each correct selection in the Round of 16, participants earn 195 points. And even more points are available each subsequent round, including an altering 2,000 points for correctly picking the country to win it all! A full list of available point totals from the Knockout Stage is listed below:

  • Round of 16 - 195 points for each correct pick
  • Quarterfinals - 395 points for each correct pick
  • Semifinals - 795 points for each correct pick
  • Third Place Game - 795 points for each correct pick
  • Final – 2,000 points for each correct pick

The USMNT advanced out of Group B and qualified for the Knockout Stage! Next up for the Stars and Stripes is a Round of 16 matchup with the Netherlands on Saturday, December 3. The official watch party begins at 9 a.m. Saturday ahead of the important 10 a.m. kickoff, with the FC Cincinnati Street Team presented by Cliffs on site and the local bars to open early!
