FC Cincinnati midfielder Junior Moreno has been called up to the Venezuelan National Team ahead of the country’s first two qualifying matches for the 2026 FIFA World Cup set to be held during September’s international break.
La Vinotinto are scheduled to play Colombia on Thursday, Sept. 7 at Estadio Metropolitano Roberto Meléndez in Barranquilla, Colombia in their first match before hosting Paraguay on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at Estadio Monumental de MaturÃn in MaturÃn, Venezuela. Both matches will kick off at 6 p.m. ET.
Moreno was previously called into the Venezuelan National Team earlier this year when La Vinotinto played two friendlies against Honduras and Guatemala during the June International window. Moreno has made 37 caps for Venezuela including his debut on June 3, 2017, against the U.S. Men’s National Team.
For FC Cincinnati this season, Moreno has 21 appearances, 19 starts, logging over 1600 minutes and scoring four goals to go along with one assist. Moreno’s four goals rank tied for the second most on the team with his latest coming last Saturday against New York City FC in a 3-0 win.
FC Cincinnati are on the road this Wednesday for a midweek clash against sixth place Atlanta United at Mercedes-Benz Stadium with kick off scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. The match can be streamed live on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV App and through radio on ESPN 1530.
