FC Cincinnati have signed Moroccan midfielder Adrien Regattin (pronounced ah-dree-UHN REH-guh-ten).

Regattin, 28, will occupy an international roster spot and be added to FC Cincinnati’s 2020 roster upon the receipt of his International Transfer Certificate and P1 Visa when the Primary Transfer Window opens on Feb. 12.

The midfielder has made 279 career appearances, including 163 starts, scoring 25 goals and adding 27 assists in 10 professional seasons in France and Turkey. Regattin joins FC Cincinnati after playing for top division sides Toulouse FC (2009-16), Osmanlispor (2016-18) and Akhisar Belediyespor (2018-19).

“We are happy to add a versatile attack-minded player in Adrien to our current group,” FC Cincinnati General Manager Gerard Nijkamp said. “We look forward to getting him acclimated with the club and city ahead of our second MLS season.”

Regattin’s professional career began in 2009 with Ligue 1 side Toulouse FC. The midfielder went on to make 163 appearances, including 79 starts, scoring 11 goals and adding 19 assists across all competitions in seven seasons in France. Regattin appeared in at least 20 matches in each of his final five campaigns in France.

Following the conclusion of the 2015-16 Ligue 1 season, Regattin joined Turkish Süper Lig side Osmanlispor. He made 80 appearances, including 59 starts, scoring nine goals and adding six assists in three campaigns with the Ankara based club. Regattin featured in all eight of the club’s UEFA Europa League matches during the 2016-17 edition of the tournament.

After Osmanlispor were relegated to the Turkish second tier following the 2017-18 season, Regattin returned to the Süper Lig by joining Akhisar Belediyespor prior to the close of the summer transfer window. He made 36 appearances, including 25 starts, scoring five goals and adding two assists across all competitions in his lone campaign with Akhisar Belediyespor. The midfielder made five appearances in 2018-19 UEFA Europa League group-stage matches.

FC Cincinnati will return to the field for their second MLS season on Sunday, March 1, when the team opens the season in Harrison, N.J., against the New York Red Bulls. After a road game at Atlanta United FC on Saturday, March 7, FCC will open its 2020 home slate on Saturday, March 14, when the team hosts D.C. United at Nippert Stadium in a 5:30 p.m. game.
