FC Cincinnati announce plans to mark 20th anniversary of 9/11

FC Cincinnati will hold events to recognize and mark the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, including hosting ‘Salute To Service Night’ as part of the club’s home match on September 11 at TQL Stadium vs. Toronto FC.

To show support for the brave men and women who have served in our nation’s military, FC Cincinnati are offering a special ticket offer to all active, reserve and retired military members and their families with the promo code MILITARY21 for the Toronto FC match.

FC Cincinnati and Gillette, presenting sponsor of the match against Toronto FC on Sept. 11, are proud to partner with Operation Homefront as part of Salute To Service Night. Informational materials will be available to fans inside TQL Stadium regarding each organization for fans to learn more about Operation Homefront and its mission to help military families start strong and stay strong.

An exclusive FC Cincinnati Salute To Service scarf will be on sale to honor all service members. The scarf features stars on one side, representing the branches of the military, along with “We Salute You” printed on the reverse. FC Cincinnati will donate a portion of the scarf sales to Operation Homefront, with Gillette matching all proceeds.

Scarves will be available for sale here starting Monday, Sept. 6 and at the TQL Stadium Store starting Sept. 7.

FC Cincinnati will also be partnering with Easterseals, a local organization which helps disabled veterans, seniors and their families, for a day of service on Friday, Sept. 10. FCC staff will work alongside veterans building clinical testing kits that are used for trials all over the world and are currently focused on COVID-19 tests at Easterseals’ Walnut Hills location.

At FC Cincinnati’s pre-match party at Washington Park, there will be a TQL Stadium hiring table focused on hiring military veterans. The table will also be available during halftime on the Carl and Martha Linder Plaza. The Cincinnati Veteran’s Center will have an informational table about the resources they provide at Washington Park, as well.

Among the activities and awareness items scheduled for the match against Toronto include:

  • Remembrance jersey patch – All MLS teams will wear a specially designed 20th anniversary remembrance patch, which mirrors the patch worn by clubs following the attacks in the 2001/02 season, placed between the adidas and Club logo in the center of the jersey
  • Moment of silence before kickoff
  • Halftime honoring ceremonies including a United States Army Swear In
