FC Cincinnati have acquired right back DeAndre Yedlin from Inter Miami CF via trade, the clubs announced today. Yedlin, 30, brings over 420 professional appearances across Europe, MLS and the United States Men’s National Team to Cincinnati in exchange for $172,799 in 2024 General Allocation Money (GAM).

“We’re excited to welcome DeAndre and his family to Cincinnati,” said Chris Albright, FC Cincinnati General Manager. “He is a natural leader who will add valuable experience and quality to our group. We are confident he will be a great fit for us on and off the field, and we look forward to him joining us.”

Yedlin, a Seattle, Wash. native, played for the Seattle Sounders Academy and signed as the club’s first ever homegrown player in 2013. He played college soccer at Akron from 2011-12, making 45 appearances in two years with the Zips. In his professional club career, Yedlin has made 341 appearances, scored seven goals and added 33 assists. He’s won the Supporters’ Shield and Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup with Seattle in 2014, and last year he won the inaugural Leagues Cup with Inter Miami.

Internationally, Yedlin has played in two FIFA World Cups with the USMNT, making three appearances in Brazil in 2014 and two more in Qatar in 2022. He’s contributed eight assists for his country in 81 appearances across the World Cup, Concacaf Gold Cup, Copa América and other international competitions. He won the Concacaf Nations League with the USMNT in 2020.

In 2014, Yedlin joined Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur, and after making his Premier League debut in April 2015 with Spurs, he was loaned to Sunderland A.F.C. that summer. He made 23 appearances for Sunderland in the Premier League in 2015-16, and he earned his first Premier League assist in a 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light.

After returning from loan in May 2016, Yedlin was transferred to Newcastle United, where he became manager Rafa Benitez’s first choice right back. Yedlin would make 125 appearances for Newcastle, helping them earn promotion to the Premier League in his first season and playing four more Premier League seasons for the Toons. Yedlin joined Turkish side Galatasaray in early 2021, where he made 36 appearances across half of two seasons.

In 2022, Yedlin returned to MLS and signed with Inter Miami CF. He played in every game for the Herons that season, assisting on four goals. He played 28 games for Miami last season, adding five more assists. Through three matches in 2024, he has started and played every minute for Miami.
