FC Cincinnati Academy Roundup: Week One

The FC Cincinnati Academy began the MLS Next regular season Saturday, September 11 north of Detroit in Livonia, Michigan against Michigan Wolves SC. The Orange and Blue went 1-2-2 on the road.

Here’s a look at how each academy age group fared:

U13 | Michigan Wolves SC 3, FC Cincinnati Academy 1

Sam Onipko, who scored in the preseason, netted FCC Academy’s goal in the 71st minute in the squad’s 3-1 loss.

Owen Chapman earned the assist on the goal.

U14 | Michigan Wolves SC 1, FC Cincinnati Academy 1

Ezequiel Bautista’s 50’ strike, assisted by Blake Koch, was the U14’s goal in the 1-1 stalemate.

U15 | Michigan Wolves SC 0, FC Cincinnati Academy 1

JP Piedra’s 64’ goal, assisted by Reece Cousino, was the game-winner in the Young Gary’s win. Piedra had scored twice in the preseason against Cleveland.

Cooper Wiseman and Jack Madsen split time at goalkeeper, holding a clean sheet in the 1-0 win.

U17 | Michigan Wolves SC 2, FC Cincinnati Academy 1

Sabalian Roy’s 11’ goal was not enough in Michigan’s 2-1 win over FC Cincinnati’s U17 squad.

U19 | Michigan Wolves SC 2, FC Cincinnati Academy 2

In a high scoring draw, Gerardo Valenzuela scored early in the 4’ followed by Max Miller in the 17’.

Morgan Marshall and Harrison Robledo each tallied assists.

UP NEXT:

The MLS Next season continues Friday, Sept. 17 and Saturday, Sept. 18 as FC Cincinnati Academy host regional rival Columbus Crew SC Academy at Mercy Health Training Center.

The match times are as follows:

Friday – 7 p.m. | U15 & U19
Saturday – 10 a.m. | U14 & U17
