FC Cincinnati Academy Roundup | April

CRP_4158 (2)

The FC Cincinnati Academy competed against several top academies from around the country, as well from around the world, during a busy month of April. The U15s and U17s spent 10 days at the Toyota Soccer Center at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas playing in the 2022 Generation adidas Cup, one of the highest-level youth competitions in the United States.

At the Generation adidas Cup, the U15 and U17 teams played three games in Group Play, then moved on to the Showcase Round. In total, each squad played seven games in eight days.

Meanwhile, the U13, U14, U15 and U19 squads competed mainly on the road, making stops in Chicago, St. Louis, Indianapolis and Detroit throughout the month.

“April was an excellent opportunity to challenge our players individually and the academy as a whole,” said Larry Sunderland, FC Cincinnati’s Director of Player Development. “Generation adidas Cup is by far one of the top competitions in the world, so it was good to be able to play other top MLS academies as well as test ourselves against international competition.”
