LOS ANGELES – FC Cincinnati forward Brandon Vazquez scored in his international debut at the senior level in the United States Men’s National Team’s 2-1 loss to visiting Serbia Wednesday night at BMO Stadium.

By earning a spot in the Starting XI for the Stars and Stripes, he became the first active player in FC Cincinnati club history to appear for the USMNT. In the 29th minute, he became the first Orange and Blue player to score for the U.S.

Vancouver Whitecaps full-back Julian Gressel delivered a cross from the right flank which Vazquez, cutting near post, found the end of and sent a glancing header back across goal, beating Serbian and New England Revolution goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic.

Vazquez finished the night with four shots, two shots on target which co-led the Americans alongside FC Dallas midfielder Paul Arriola.

The USMNT close out the January Camp against Colombia at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif. on Saturday, Jan. 28 (7:30 p.m. ET; TNT, Telemundo, Peacock, Telemundo App).

Vazquez and teammate Roman Celentano will rejoin FC Cincinnati following the USMNT January Camp in Clearwater, Fla., where the Orange and Blue are in preseason ahead of the 2023 MLS season. FCC’s first of five preseason games will be against Austin FC on Friday, Jan. 27.
