ACADEMY ROUNDUP | Young Garys look ahead to MLS FLEX tournament

The Young Garys closed out April with a busy stretch of matches that saw the Orange and Blue produce some impressive results. The first matches of May are underway, and the MLS NEXT FLEX tournament kicks off this weekend for the U15, U17 and U19 teams in Boyds, Maryland.

Here are the most recent results for each FCC Academy team.

U13s
The Young Garys have won the last four in convincing fashion. Nathan Stover netted a brace in a 6-0 win against Beadling SC, having scored his 10th of the season while PJ Kontopos scored two goals of his own against Chicago Fire FC.

U14s
The U14s saw an eight-match winning streak come to an end against Lou Fusz Athletic, but not before scoring 10 goals in two matches against Beadling SC. Chance Malilo scored two goals against Beadling SC on April 23.

U15s
The aforementioned Malilo made his first appearance for the U15s against Minnesota United, scoring one of two goals for the Young Garys in the win. Nico Burns added a second against Minnesota with Gareth Dipple earning a shutout.

U17s
The U17s went head-to-head with four other MLS academy teams over the last few weeks. Johnny Jaku has scored three goals over the last four matches and Matias Paez earned the U17s a point against Minnesota United on April 29.

U19s
The U19s took two of their last three as Ryder Mills scored his 27th goal in 23 matches this season. Josh Head won it for the Young Garys against Indiana Fire Academy with a brace in a 2-1 win on May 7.
