FC Cincinnati 2/Matchup Notes
The matchup – The third and final meeting of the season between the two teams will be held at the home of Red Bull II. Cincinnati took two points against RBNY II in the most recent matchup, winning a shootout following a 2-2 draw at Scudamore Field at NKU Soccer Stadium in July.
It was a second half comeback by the Orange and Blue who trailed 2-0 at the break. Stefan Chirila cut into the deficit in the 49th minute from the penalty spot, and an 80th minute New York own goal would send it to the shootout.
Fabian Mrozek made two saves in the shootout, while five of the seven FCC 2 takers converted on their attempts.
Scouting Red Bull New York II
Record: 13-9-4 (44 points)
Standings: 5th Eastern Conference
Last Three: 4-2 loss at New York City FC II | 4-2 win at CT United FC | 5-1 win vs Toronto FC II
Head Coach: Dominik Wohlert
Leading Scorer: 8 – Christian Gallagher
Red Bull New York II are looking to make a late season run into the top four of the Eastern Conference and have won four of their last five coming into the weekend. Last season’s one seed in the east, RBNY II trail Columbus Crew 2 by a single point for the last hosting spot for the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro postseason.
Red Bull II’s late season run has been fueled by a high-flying attack which has seen New York score two or more goals in five consecutive matches and hit the four and five goal mark against CT United FC and Toronto FC II, respectively. Seven Red Bull II players have at least five goals on the year. Christian Gallagher leads the team with eight goals and has scored four times in his last 189 minutes played.
In support of Gallagher up front is Roald Mitchell and Dennis Nelich. Mitchell has played in just nine matches this season but has scored six goals. However, in his last outing with Red Bull II, Roald scored twice and assisted once. Nelich is the more likely to feature on Sunday and leads the team in total goal contributions with 13 (7G, 6A).
