FC Cincinnati 2 will travel to Chicago, Illinois to face Chicago Fire FC II at SeatGeek Stadium for a Matchweek 22 matchup this Sunday, August 2, at 4 p.m. ET. FCC 2 is coming off a 2-2 draw, and a shootout win, against New England Revolution II last Sunday.

The matchup- Sunday’s match will be the first and only meeting of the season between FCC 2 and Fire II. The Orange and Blue will be looking for their first points against Chicago since September 2024 when FCC 2 defeated Fire II in a shootout. FCC 2 found the back of the net in all three meetings against Fire II in 2025. Defender Andrei Chirila scored his first professional goal in the first meeting a season ago.
Head Coach Sammy Castellanos is set for a Chicago reunion as he faces his former club for the first time. Castellanos served as the club’s U18 Head Coach from 2023-25 before arriving in Cincinnati.

Chicago Fire FC II enter the matchweek on the back of an impressive 5-1 victory over Carolina Core FC. Currently sitting inside the top 10 in the Eastern Conference, Fire II have won two of their last three and have lost just once since mid-June.
Chicago’s strength lies in their offense and are one of the most in form scoring sides in MLS NEXT Pro. Fire II have scored 38 goals this season and have scored two or more goals in seven consecutive matches. Fire II are averaging 2.7 goals per match over that seven-game stretch.
Fire II have been strong at home, earning five of their seven season wins at SeatGeek Stadium. Chicago have won four straight at home and haven’t lost at home since April 18.
Forward Dean Boltz is the Fire’s leading scorer with five goals while also adding three assists. Boltz has been in fine form for Fire II and has scored or assisted in seven of his last 13 appearances. Midfielder Damyan Villanueva is tied for the third most assist in the league with seven. Villanueva has assisted in four of his last five.
