FC Cincinnati 2/Matchup Notes
The matchup – It is a rare meeting between FC Cincinnati 2 and Chattanooga FC with Sunday’s match marking just the third time the two sides have met since 2024. Last year, Chattanooga finished fourth in the Eastern Conference standings with a record of 13-6-9 and advanced to the MLSNP playoffs for the first time in the club history.

In 2025, the Orange and Blue earned two points in their lone meeting with the Tennessee-based outfit, winning the shootout following a scoreless draw. Sunday’s match is the first and only meeting of the regular season between FCC 2 and Chattanooga and it is the first matchup in club history to take place at home for FCC 2.

More debuts for the Young Garys – FC Cincinnati Academy defender Amin Ibrahim and midfielder Chance Malilo made their MLS NEXT Pro debuts midweek against Huntsville City FC. Ibrahim and Malilo, who came on for the final half hour of the match, become the third and fourth academy players this season to earn minutes at the MLSNP level.

The pair join Gavin DeHart and Ryan Schlotterbeck as academy players to have made their MLSNP debut in 2026.

Home for the summer – The Orange and Blue return to Scudamore Field following Wednesday’s away match against Huntsville in what is the start of a heavy home schedule that will play through Major League Soccer’s World Cup pause. Beginning Sunday, FCC 2 will play seven of their next 10 at home which includes a three-match home stand from June 28 through July 12.

FCC 2 have been strong at home this season (3-1-0), where they have held two clean sheets and scored nine goals. The Orange and Blue can make it four straight home wins Sunday, which would mark the longest win streak in the club’s history.

Scouting Chattanooga FC

Head Coach: Richard Dixon (Interim)
Leading Scorer: 4 – Alex McGrath

Chattanooga FC are looking to establish some consistency heading into Matchweek 11 against the Orange and Blue. Chattanooga currently sit ninth in the Eastern Conference standings and will look to make it back-to-back road victories in Highland Heights Sunday night.

A pair of late penalties helped Chattanooga take three points against Inter Miami CF II last time out with Tate Robertson and Farid Sar-Sar converting from the spot in the final 10 minutes of the match. Robertson, who nearly hit the double-digit mark in both goals and assists a season ago (9 G, 10 A), is off to an equally hot start to 2026 where he has scored three times and assisted twice in nine starts.

And while Robertson looks to be in for another productive season, it is Alex McGrath who paces the group in goals scored. The longtime Chattanooga FC player, having made 98 total appearances for the club across all competitions, has bagged four goals in just five appearances. The midfielder is well on his way to setting a single season high for goals scored in an MLSNP season, with his previous high of seven coming back in 2024.

Chattanooga parted ways with Head Coach Chris Nugent back in February before naming Richard Dixon Interim Head Coach. Dixon, a former Chattanooga FC player who has made the third most appearances in club history, takes over in his first coaching role after serving as the Director of Performance in 2024.
