ALL-TIME SERIES
Sunday’s match between FC Cincinnati 2 and New York City FC II will be the fourth all-time meeting between the sides. The Orange and Blue are 0-3-0 against the Pigeons.

THE LAST MEETING
FC Cincinnati 2 suffered narrow defeat, 2-1, to New York City FC II in the first meeting of the 2023 season at Belson Stadium. Jack Beer and Massimo Murania Yankowitz put New York up 2-0 before Ben Stitz scored his third goal for the Orange and Blue in the 78th minute to cut the lead, but Cincinnati were unable to tie things late.

SCOUTING NEW YORK CITY FC II (9-11-3, 30 PTS., 9TH EASTERN CONFERENCE)
New York City FC II enter Sunday’s matchday below the MLS NEXT Pro playoff line with five matches remaining in the regular season. On 30 points, and five points off the seventh spot, the Pigeons need wins to challenge for the final playoff spot but have earned just one over their last seven matches. New York’s schedule looks favorable to close out the season as four of their last five opponents are in the bottom half of the table.

New York’s Matt Myers leads the MLS NEXT Pro Golden Boot Race with 16 goals with a two-goal cushion on Nick Firmino and Jack Lynn (14). Myers has scored 11 of those goals over his last 11 matches and six in his last three appearances, including a hat trick against Inter Miami CF II and a brace against Orlando City B. Myers has started in all 23 appearances for New York this season and has played 2004 minutes, both team highs.

Despite Myers’ prolific scoring record, New York are conceding at an equal rate and hold just a +1 goal differential. The Pigeons have allowed six goals over their last two matches and have held opponents scoreless just once since April 14. New York have allowed 10 goals over their last four road matches.

TQL STADIUM – FC Cincinnati 2 will play their second match at TQL Stadium following last year’s thrilling 3-3 shootout win against Columbus Crew 2 on August 14. Arquimides Ordoñez led the Orange and Blue in a second half comeback with Gerardo Valenzuela picking up two assists on the night.

FINDING THE SCORING TOUCH – The Orange and Blue have found the back of the net in three consecutive matches after going three goalless. Arquimides Ordonez scored his ninth goal of the season against Columbus last Saturday while Ben Stitz and Malik Pinto led FC Cincinnati 2 with goals of their own in the team’s first road win of the season against Philadelphia Union on August 13.

PLAYOFF PICTURE – Similar to New York, Cincinnati need wins to keep their playoff hopes alive. FC Cincinnati 2 are nine points off seventh place Huntsville City with five matches remaining in the regular season.
