FC CINCINNATI 2 NOTES
STEF IS HEATING UP - Stefan Chirila was on the scoresheet for the second consecutive match Sunday night against Columbus Crew 2. The FC Cincinnati homegrown earned FCC 2 all three points with his 62nd minute free kick, going under the Columbus wall from just outside the box to make it 2-1. Chirila has scored four goals in just five appearances this season.

Chirila, who scored nine goals in 22 appearances in 2025, is on pace to set a MLSNP single-season high for goals scored after registering three goals over his last two matches.

HERE WE GO, LEO - Leo Orejarena scored his first career MLS NEXT Pro goal Sunday against Crew 2. Orejarena has carved out a consistent role in Sammy Castellano’s Starting XI group, having made seven starts in eight appearances this season. Those numbers are MLSNP single-season highs for the midfielder, who played a total of nine matches - just two starts - in two seasons with North Texas SC.

Orejarena has goal contributions in back-to-back matches after tallying his first assist against Toronto FC II.

PLAY THE KIDS - The Orange and Blue have put an emphasis on playing young players this season. The average age of the top-10 minutes leaders for FC Cincinnati 2 in 2026 is just under the age of 20, with five of the ten aged 19 or younger. FC Cincinnati Academy defender Will Kuisel (18) has appeared in all eight matches for FCC 2 this season.

Camden Sphire (18) picked up his second straight start against Columbus after making his first career start against Toronto a week prior. Ryan Schlotterbeck (15) made his MLS NEXT Pro debut in that same game and has now seen match minutes in two straight matches.

3 IN A ROW AGAINST HUNTSVILLE... - The Orange and Blue have won three consecutive matches against Huntsville City FC and will look to make it four come Wednesday night. The two sides have played just five times since April of 2023, but it’s FCC 2 that holds the edge in the series (3-1-1).

...AND 3 STRAIGHT AT HOME - With the win against Crew 2, FC Cincinnati 2 have now won three straight matches at NKU Soccer Stadium, tying the longest home win streak in club history. It is just the third time the Orange and Blue have put together such a streak, when they accomplished the task in 2024 and 2025.

NO SHOOTOUTS - FC Cincinnati 2, through eight matches, have yet to face a postmatch shootout this season. The Orange and Blue (3-5-0, 9 points) are the only team in MLS NEXT Pro who have yet to split points in a match.

Scouting Huntsville City FC
Record: 4-2-2 (15 points)
Standings: 6th, Eastern Conference
Last Three: 3-0 win vs Carolina Core FC | 2-0 win at Chattanooga FC | 4-2 win at Inter Miami CF II
Head Coach: Chris O’Neal
Leading Scorer: 4 – Maximus Ekk

After a rocky start to the season which saw Huntsville City FC drop two of their first three matches, including a 7-2 loss against Crown Legacy FC, Huntsville are unbeaten over their last five matches and have won three in a row. Huntsville are up to sixth in the Eastern Conference table and will look to extend their current run of form against the Orange and Blue.

Huntsville’s attack has been powered by contributions from all over the field. Forward Maximus Ekk leads the forward line with four goals, but defenders Jordan Knight and Leo Christiano have combined for three from the backline.

Nashville SC’s Shakur Mohammed, Huntsville City FC’s MLS affiliate club, has been lethal in front of goal when given the chance. Mohammed has played just three matches for Huntsville but is second on the team in goals with three. The former Orlando City SC player scored 28 goals for OCB from 2023-2025.

Huntsville has held clean sheet in two straight matches and have three over their last four after conceding goals in each of their first four matches of the year. Will Mackay is the clear first choice keeper for Huntsville as he’s played in seven of the team’s eight matches this year. Mackay’s 25 saves rank top-10 across MLS NEXT Pro.
