Fiddle earns spot in U.S. eNational Team

FC Cincinnati eMLS player Gordon Thornsberry, known in the gaming world as Fiddle, will represent the U.S. eNational Team (USeNT) after winning the Xbox bracket of the U.S. Soccer eNT Open on April 9. This is the second time that Fiddle will represent the Red, White and Blue.


Along with Mohamed “KingCJ0” Diop, Fiddle will compete for the USeNT in the FIFAe Nations Online Qualifier 2021, which will occur later this spring.


The U.S. Soccer eNT Open, in a double-elimination format, was comprised of the top seven American players on PlayStation and the top seven American players on Xbox, per the FIFA Global Series Rankings, and the PlayStation and Xbox winners from the open competition that took place between April 1-3.


Fiddle reached the broadcast format of the U.S. Soccer eNT Open after defeating Josh “Squirrel” Banh, 4-3, in the upper quarterfinals and Ehsan “Lamps” Zakeri, 6-2, in the upper semifinals. In the upper final, Fiddle defeated Guillermo” Kid M3mito” Treviño, 6-2, to reach the Xbox grand final. 


Fiddle reached the grand final undefeated, meaning he would have to be beaten twice in order to be eliminated. Fiddle faced Lamps in the grand final and defeated him, 6-4, to earn a place in the U.S. eNational Team.


Fiddle is a Cincinnati-area product, having grown up and currently living in Hamilton, Ohio.


Fiddle joined FC Cincinnati as the club’s eMLS player in November 2018 after a spell with Paris-St. Germain. He won back-to-back eMLS events in 2019, defeating the New York Red Bulls’ George Adamou in the final of eMLS League Series One, and Atlanta United’s Paulo Neto in the final of eMLS League Series Two.
