Lineup Notes: Chicago Fire FC

Lineup Notes

FC Cincinnati head coach Jaap Stam made one change to the starting XI ahead of Tuesday night’s match against Chicago Fire FC at Soldier Field.

Allan Cruz, who makes his first start since March 7 at Atlanta United FC, replaces Siem de Jong in the lineup.

Bailey, van der Werff available against Chicago

Both Zico Bailey and Maikel van der Werff are back in the matchday squad after missing last Friday’s home opener against D.C. United.

If Bailey plays, it’ll be his FCC debut. As for van der Werff, the Dutchman was cleared after spending time in the Netherlands. If he plays, it’ll be his first appearance since the 1-0 win over Atlanta on July 16 in the MLS is Back Tournament.

Other notes

In addition to Bailey potentially making his debut, two more players could make their 2020 debuts for the club: Bobby Edwards and Tommy McCabe. Edwards awaits his FCC debut after joining the club in the offseason.

Greg Garza last played in FCC’s match against Columbus Crew SC on July 11, while Nick Hagglund last played on July 22 against the New York Red Bulls.

About the absences

Saad Abdul-Salaam (quad), Jimmy McLaughlin (ankle) and Spencer Richey (concussion) are unavailable for the first in-market road trip since March.

Haris Medunjanin will miss the match because he’s following MLS’ 10-day quarantine protocol period after missing a COVID-19 test. He was on paternity leave!

New signing Kamohelo Mokotjo remains overseas and cannot be formally added to FC Cincinnati’s roster until he receives a work visa.
