2018 – FCC spoil Indy Eleven’s inaugural home opener

A fantastic finish – and a saved penalty – earned FC Cincinnati their second win in as many matches to open the 2018 USL regular season.

Spoiling Indy Eleven’s first USL home match, Emery Welshman’s 26th-minute header gave Cincinnati a 1-0 win at Lucas Oil Stadium in front of 17,535 fans – the most FCC had faced on the road at that time.

Evan Newtown earned a deserved clean sheet after stopping Jack McInerney’s 39th-minute penalty and the ensuing rebound. The play was late up for USL save of the year!

Here was the lineup used in the win: Evan Newton, Justin Hoyte, Dekel Keinan, Forrest Lasso, Blake Smith, Kenney Walker, Richie Ryan, Corben Bone, Emmanuel Ledesma, Emery Welshman and Lance Laing. The three used substitutes were Will Seymore, Daniel Haber and Danni König.
