Recap from Academy's two-game trip

FCC Academy

The FC Cincinnati Academy faced two opponents, going a combined 0-4-0 in games on Saturday and Sunday. First, the teams traveled to Bridgeview, Ill., for matches against Chicago Fire Soccer Academy in their second Development Academy Cup games of the season. The Under-17’s lost 2-0 against Chicago, while the Under-15’s also came up short, falling 2-1. On Sunday, the teams remained on the road to face the Indiana Fire Academy for their first Development Academy regular-season games. The U-17’s lost 2-1, while the U-15’s lost 2-0.

In the team’s second Development Academy Cup game, the U-17’s conceded two goals in a two-minute span midway through the first half, and were unable to get on the scoresheet. Luka Bezerra opened the scoring for the Chicago Fire Soccer Academy in the 17th minute. Two minutes later, Missael Rodriguez doubled the home team’s lead.

After receiving the ball inside the penalty box, Arquimides Ordonez (Fort Thomas, Ky.) dribbled past the Indiana Fire’s defense. As Ordonez went around the goalkeeper, he was fouled and awarded a penalty by the referee. Ordonez stepped up to take the penalty kick and gave FC Cincinnati the first lead of the match. Ednilson Voiles found the equalizer for Indiana in the 55th minute. Voiles got the ball from a through ball and tucked a left-footed shot into the right side of the goal. Leonardo Rodriguez found the game-winner for the Indiana Fire Academy in the 77th minute.

In another close game for the U-15’s, the team fell short 2-1 to the Chicago Fire Soccer Academy. Ryder Mills (West Chester, Ohio) scored the U-15’s first goal in an official game. The Orange and Blue conceded an early goal as Chicago’s Roman Eisa put the home team ahead in the 7th minute. Mills scored an equalizer for The Orange and Blue in the 66th minute. Two minutes later, the Chicago Fire found the game-winning goal when Carlos Nevarez scored.

A pair of second half goals gave Indiana Fire Academy the win over the Orange and Blue.  David Alexander gave the home team the lead in the 59th minute. In the 73rd minute, Vukasin Jankovic doubled Indiana’s lead. Although the club attempted to draw even, they suffered their first loss of the regular season.
