On Wednesday morning, one of FC Cincinnati’s biggest supporters visited practice and met the players and coaches.
Sharon, who’s known on Twitter as Senior Groupie (@ComminsSharon), is 75 years old and attends FCC games when she can. She’s been a fan since the club’s first season in USL back in 2016.
But attending practice was a new opportunity for Sharon, along with Cathy Schmuck, to meet the players she has always supported. Sharon is a member of The Briogáid, an FCC supporters group, and Cathy is the group's vice president.
“It was just a good opportunity to come out there and bring Sharon out,” Schmuck said. “She’s a huge fan and considers them hers. She loves them and she was just beyond words driving home and started crying, bless her heart.”
Sharon arrived at the Mercy Health Training Center with her walker decked out with Orange and Blue streamers. Once at practice, she was able to watch the team and meet her favorite player, Mathieu Deplagne.
“She was so excited and happy for what everyone has done for her,” Cathy said of her mom’s visit to FCC training. “It’s a great to be an FC Cincinnati fan and it’s a great time to be an FC Cincinnati fan. Even though the current record is not great, I think the future is bright and we’ve got a lot to look forward to.”
