Notes From IMG Academy: Day 11

IMG Academy

BRADENTON, Fla. — Tuesday marked FC Cincinnati’s final two-a-day for training sessions in Florida. Wednesday will be pregame prep before playing D.C. United on Thursday night, while Friday will be a recovery day.

Morning session

The Orange and Blue began the day working on quick passes and maintaining shape in and out of possession. After a few drills, the session concluded with a full-field scrimmage. The game featured moments of frustration between players, but Head Coach Alan Koch said that was good for the team’s development.

“We want to challenge them,” Koch said. “We want to get them out of their comfort zones, and then it’s all about your responses. It was good. It was a lively session, it was an intense session and there was frustration in the session too, which is great. That’s part of challenging ourselves.”

Afternoon session

Initial plans called for FC Cincinnati to practice at IMG for a second session, but those plans were swapped for a job on the beach. So, later in the afternoon, the team split in vans and drove to Bradenton Beach, where players and coaches jogged on the beach before sunset.
