Orange and Blue’s midfielder claims spot on league’s weekly team for third time in 2018

CINCINNATI – FC Cincinnati midfielder Nazmi Albadawi has been voted to the United Soccer League’s Team of the Week for Week 24 after standout play in the Orange and Blue’s pair of road wins last week at Atlanta United 2 and the Tampa Bay Rowdies.

This is Albadawi’s third nod on the USL Team of the Week this season, and his second appearance on the team’s starting 11.

On Wednesday in Atlanta, Albadawi netted his second brace of the season, scoring in each half. He also contributed to Emery Welshman’s goal in the second half as his original shot was saved directly to Welshman for the close-range rebound.

On the season, Albadawi now has nine goals and three assists in 20 games played.

First-place FC Cincinnati (17-3-6, 57 pts.) returns to the field on Saturday, Sept. 1, when the Orange and Blue host Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC at Nippert Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m., and the game will be televised live on WSTR 64, carried live on The Project 100.7 FM and also streamed live on ESPN+. FC Cincinnati currently has an 11-point lead in the Eastern Conference over second-place Louisville (46 pts.).
