Newton Save Against Battery Earns Save Of Week Honors

NEWTON SAVE AGAINST BATTERY EARNS SAVE OF WEEK HONORS

Goalkeeper Evan Newton's superb diving save against the Charleston Battery has been elected as the USL Save of the Week following a nation-wide USL fan vote after the completion of week one action!

Making his first official start for the Orange & Blue, Newton delivered a standout performance in Charleston. While the diving save he made in the 40th minute to deny Kotaro Higashi's excellently taken volley earned Newton this week's USL Save of the Week honors, he was influential throughout the match, making multiple key stops to preserve the club's first ever win over the Battery. Newton twice earned USL Save of the Week honors in 2017 while playing with Sacramento Republic FC, in Week 7 and Week 30. FC Cincinnati and Newton have the weekend off thanks a by in the schedule and a postponed friendly at the University of Dayton, but will return to action next Saturday, March 31, at 7pm when they travel to Indianapolis to face Indy Eleven at Lucas Oil Stadium. The club will make its home 2018 debut the following Saturday, April 7, when they host rivals Louisville City for a 7pm kickoff at Nippert Stadium.
