Wiedeman Becomes Three-Time USL Team Of The Week Honoree

CINCINNATI, OH – Andrew Wiedeman was voted to the USL Team of the Week for a third time this year after putting away the game-tying goal and helping FC Cincinnati secure a point on the road last week at Rochester.


Wiedeman’s goal, his fifth of the year, leveled the score at 1-1 after converting on a free kick in the 81st minute.   


The San Ramon, CA product is now second on the team with 12 points. Wiedeman has now notched a point in three of the last four games and a goal in two of those contests.


FCC hosts Rochester Rhinos next Wed., (Aug. 24) at Nippert Stadium at 7:00 p.m.


USL Team of the Week


GK – Clement Diop, LA Galaxy II: Diop recorded three outstanding saves, including saving a penalty kick, as the Galaxy II earned a point in a 0-0 draw with OKC Energy FC.


D – Joel Johnson, Charlotte Independence: Johnson had a strong two-way game as the Independence took a 1-0 victory against Wilmington on Saturday night.


D – Steven Taylor, Portland Timbers 2: Taylor scored the opening goal as T2 took a second consecutive victory by defeating Orange County 2-1 on Sunday afternoon.


D – Josh Suggs, Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC: Suggs was solid defensively and dangerous going forward as the Switchbacks defeated Tulsa 1-0 last Thursday night.


M – Sunny Jane, Richmond Kickers: Jane had the opening goal and a strong all-around performance as Richmond played to a 1-1 draw with FC Cincinnati.


M – Matt LaGrassa, Sacramento Republic FC: LaGrassa recorded a pair of fine assists in his first start for Sacramento in its 4-3 victory against Saint Louis.


M – Jose Barril, Harrisburg City Islanders: Barril had a goal in each game as the City Islanders took four points from their trips to Louisville and Toronto.


M – Junior Flemmings, New York Red Bulls II: Flemmings was the key player in New York’s 5-1 victory against Orlando on Friday that moved the side back on top of the Eastern standings.


F – Ballou Jean-Yves Tabla, FC Montreal: Tabla had two goals and three assists across a pair of victories at home against Pittsburgh and on the road in Charleston.


F – Cameron Iwasa, Sacramento Republic FC: Iwasa scored a pair of goals, including what proved to be the game-winner, in Republic FC’s 4-3 win against Saint Louis.


F – Emilio Garcia, Rio Grande Valley FC: Garcia scored the first two goals, including an outstanding free kick, as the Toros defeated Seattle 6-0.
