If you’re from Cincinnati, you know very well that there’s a bit of a sports rivalry between the Queen City and that city upstream on the Ohio River — Pittsburgh.
And on Saturday, May 14th, at 4pm, that rivalry extends to the soccer pitch when FC Cincinnati host the Pittsburgh Riverhounds at Nippert Stadium.
Owner and CEO Carl Lindner III is up for the match, too, challenging and FCC supporters and the city to “welcome” those rivals with what would be a USL-record breaking crowd of 25,000 — topping the record of 20,418 we set just last month against Louisville — with a color familiar to Pittsburgh fans visiting Cincinnati: orange.
As such, the the club has officially declared our match against Pittsburgh an Orange Out.
But it won’t just be a sea of orange in the stands at Nippert. FC Cincinnati will extend the Orange Out onto the field of play by debuting a brand new, primarily orange third kit for the first time. A reverse of our blue home kits with orange backs, this new shirt will be complimented by blue shorts and orange socks.
Want to wear the same orange kit the pros will be wearing in action that night against Pittsburgh? The orange third kit is now officially available both in our downtown and online shops! But the supply on the orange kit is extremely limited, so once they’re gone… they’re gone. And ordering online by Tuesday, May 10th, should ensure you get yours in the mail by 14th so you can wear it to the match.
A special edition Orange Out shirt from our friends at Cincy Shirts will also be available for purchase at the stadium. So if you don’t yet have your orange ready yet, you’ve got plenty of options to pick something up.
And if you don’t yet have your tickets for the Orange Out against Pittsburgh, grab those now so you’re sure to not miss out on what looks to be another historic night at Nippert Stadium.
