FC Cincinnati 2 suffered defeat to Red Bull New York II Sunday night in a 3-1 result at MSU Soccer Park. It is the first loss for the Orange and Blue against RBNY II since March of 2024.

Red Bull New York II opened the scoring in the 16th minute, but forward Cheikhou Niang scored his second goal in as many matches to bring things level at 1-1 just three minutes later. The Orange and Blue quickly advanced play up field, as Stefan Chirila sent Niang into space with just one defender to beat. Niang held off the lone defender and curled one past goalkeeper Aidan Stokes from outside the box.

Chirila’s assist is his first of the season and first goal contribution since the opening day of the season when the forward scored from the penalty spot against CT United FC.

The hosts would score twice in the second half as Dennis Gjengaar, who found the back of the net two times in the match, and Andy Rojas powered New York to three points.

The Orange and Blue have the coming weekend off before returning to play on Sunday, May 3 against Toronto FC II. The match is set to kick off from Scudamore Field at NKU Soccer Stadium at 7 p.m. ET with tickets for the match available through the FC Cincinnati App.
