FC Cincinnati 2 sign defender Amir Daley

FC Cincinnati 2 have signed defender Amir Daley to an MLS NEXT Pro contract, the club announced today. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Daley, 21, joins the Orange and Blue after a four-year collegiate career at Duke University, where he made 72 appearances for the Blue Devils. Daley started 68 matches and played a total of 5,640 minutes, seeing at least 1,200 minutes of action every season.

Daley’s on field versatility saw him play as both a defender and midfielder for the Blue Devils, where he scored three goals and tallied six assists. Daley’s best offensive season came as a senior, when he scored one goal and added four assists. Daley registered 10 shots and four shots on goal that same season, both career highs.

The Elmont, N.Y. native spent time with the Red Bulls U23s and the Long Island Rough Riders of USL League Two during the college offseason and was part of a Rough Riders side that advanced to the USL League Two National Final in 2022. Prior to his time at Duke, Daley played in the New York Red Bulls Academy where he spent five years, playing 89 matches.

Daley was also one of 44 players to be invited to last year’s College Showcase, a four-day event held in Phoenix, Ariz. which showcased the top college prospects from around the country.
